How we process your application
When we receive your application the following procedures will be undertaken by members of the Registration and Renewals team:

  • Check that the application form has been completed and the declarations signed. If these are incomplete then the form will be returned, with a request to fully complete the form
  • Check that the application includes payment for the application and registration fee. The preferred method of payment is by credit or debit card. If payment is not included, a payment request will be issued before proceeding
  • Once all documentation is collated, an application will be made to Verifile Ltd to undertake an identity and criminal record check on the applicant
  • Undertake a check that the applicant is qualified by requesting confirmation from the relevant awarding body
  • Check that the applicant has correctly completed and signed two copies of the Home Inspector Contract.

If the applicant has previously applied to (or joined) another Certification Scheme, that scheme will be contacted with a view to establishing the current status of the applicant in the other Scheme(s).

If there are criminal convictions, or if the application form yields any reservations concerning the applicant's suitability to become a Home Inspector, then the case will need to be reviewed by the Internal Registrar. If the applicant does not have suitable Professional Indemnity Insurance, they must indicate the method of insurance that they intend to use.

Once all the checks have taken place, the applicant is formally registered as a member of the SAVA Certification Scheme, and entered on the HI Register. The applicant will be notified of this and informed that they are a commercial user of the SAVA HCR Software, and can upload HCRs to the SAVA Certification Scheme Local HCR Register. They will also be issued with a membership number. [Back to top]
